Man breaks into house of ex-wife, 'kills' her baby

"One person named by the complainant in the FIR has been arrested and the accused is being interrogated," said a police officer. Chairperson of the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Meena Kharkongor, has urged law-enforcing agencies not to grant bail to the accused and demanded a thorough investigation into the gruesome incident.The Civil Society Women's Organization has called for speedy trial and punishment for the accused.

SHILLONG: A kidnapping accused out on bail allegedly broke into the house of his former wife in the Mission Compound locality of the city here late on Tuesday night, beat her up and killed her three-week-old baby by dumping the infant in a bucket of water.The suspect, Clarence Rajee (27) of Pohkseh, Shillong , has been arrested and police are interrogating him.Police suspect that Rajee, who was reportedly masked, had climbed up to the terrace of the house and then broke into the bedroom of Narisha M Bleine. He then assaulted her, leaving her profusely bleeding on the floor.
