SHILLONG: The 58 Gorkha Training Centre fondly remembered one of its finest luminaries, Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw , popularly known as 'Sam Bahadur', on his tenth death anniversary here on Friday.
"He was a great military leader rated as the first amongst the equals and at the helms of affairs during the decisive military victory against Pakistan in 1971," said a defence statement issued on Saturday.The Centre organised a wreath-laying ceremony to commemorate the death anniversary during which the jawans, led by Colonel MS Mahar, Deputy Commandant 58 Gorkha Training Centre, paid homage to the late Field Marshal at the Manekshaw Memorial in Shillong
