SHILLONG: Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma , who must win the South Tura bypoll to retain office, has said a vote for the ruling National People's Party ( NPP ) will ensure political stability in the state."This election is not just about me or my party. Your vote has the power to ensure that this government stays on and continues with the good work it has been doing. The entire northeast will keep an eye on this election," Conrad said at an election rally at the Nepali Puja Mandap in Akonggre on Sunday."All MDA partners, which include the BJP, PDF, UDP, Independents and NCP, have extended their support to me. I am not just an NPP candidate. I represent the entire MDA coalition," he added. Conrad is up against three other candidates - one from Congress and two Independents. The byelection to the South Tura constituency will be held on August 23. The seat was held by NPP leader Agatha Sangma, who stepped down to make way for her brother, Conrad, to contest.
