Tribal affairs ministry grants Rs 127 crore to Meghalaya

SHILLONG: The tribal affairs ministry has released Rs 127 crore for various works proposed by the Meghalaya government.This year onwards, an amount of Rs 25 crore has been earmarked for extending coverage of Special Central Assistance to Tribal Sub Scheme to the state of Meghalaya, tribal affairs minister Jual Oram said here on Saturday.Oram termed Meghalaya as a "new economic power" and stated that education system of the state has been very instrumental for its steady growth after inaugurating the newly constructed Reverend DJ Wollaston (Annexe) building of the St. Anthony's College in presence of Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma here.
