Efforts to retrieve 2nd miner's body hit roadblock

SHILLONG: Efforts to retrieve the body of the second miner from rat-hole coal mine at Ksan in the East Jaintia Hills have not yielded any results. According to East Jaintia Hills deputy commissioner FM Dopth, the second miner's body was detected around 3am on Saturday morning at 280 feet inside the main shaft. "Due to many obstacles inside the rat hole -- like exhaust pipes used by miners and the turbidity -- the retrieval has become difficult," a statement issued by the Navy said.
