The CBI claimed they had been asking for the relevant CDRs for a long time.On June 28 last year, the SIT had handed over the CDRs of Sudipta Sen,the prime accused. That probably explains why the agency wrote to the home ministry seeking permission to procure the original CDRs from telecom service providers.After the agency received the original CDRs from the service providers in December-January, they were analysed and compared.“A comparative study left us with no doubt that the CDRs handed over to us earlier by the SIT were sanitized. A report on the same was submitted with the Supreme Court in a sealed envelope,” said a CBI officer.During the interrogation, CBI sources said, Kumar couldn’t satisfy them on the CDRs. “He still needs to explain how the SIT did not give us the correct CDRs. We will certainly come to know about it,” the source said.CBI officers questioned Kumar at length about electronic devices like laptops and mobile phones that might have been returned to Sen. “We are yet to get the answer astowhy the SITdisposedof thosedevices,” said the CBI officer.
