Veterna Meghalaya Journalist Lambok Thabah takes his last breath

Lambok Thabah — a seasoned journalist of the State and Editor of Khasi day by day `U Nongsaiñ Hima — took his final breath on Tuesday morning.

Lambok Thabah, a seasoned journalist of the State and Editor of Khasi day by day `U Nongsaiñ Hima took his final breath on Tuesday morning.

A condolence message was issued by the press club which said, “The Shillong Press Clun expresses its deepest shock, pain and utter despair at the sudden passing away of one of its oldest and strongest members – Bah Lam as he was fondly known to all of his colleagues and friends. He was a stalwart of a journalist who never once tried to grab any limelight or attract any self-glory through his quiet working style.”

Thabah was also the recipient of the prestigious award Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Award instituted by the Indian Express Group in 2014 for his breakthrough reporting on the gross PDS anomalies in Meghalaya. Thabah still remains to be the seniormost journalist in Meghalaya.

Thabah, who out of nowhere became sick on Tuesday morning, kicked the bucket while he was taken to the Bethany Hospital.

He was conceived on June 15, 1971 at Umniuh Tmar, East Khasi Hills locale. He began his tutoring in his town and later joined Class-VII at the St Paul`s Seminary in Shillong and showed up in his High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Examination in 1988. At that point, he joined Shillong Polytechnic and finished his Mechanical Engineering in 1994.
