First ATM installed in Meghalaya hospital where ATM's inventor John Adrian Shepherd was born 96 years ago

A hospital official gave this information on Tuesday. He said that ATM has been installed in Dr H Gordon Roberts Hospital, whose establishment will complete 100 years next year.

The first ATM machine has been installed in Meghalaya`s hospital where John Adrian Shepherd Baron, the inventor of the Automated Teller Machine (ATM) was born in 1925. A hospital official gave this information on Tuesday. He said that ATM has been installed in Dr H Gordon Roberts Hospital, whose establishment will complete 100 years next year.

Hospital`s health superintendent Dr Roken Nongrum said, "An application was made to State Bank of India to install an ATM, after which the machine was installed on August 7. This machine has been installed before the completion of 100 years of establishment of our hospital next year. He said that this ATM would be of great help to the patients and the staff.

Dr. Rokan said, `We are very grateful to the bank that they have fulfilled our demand. This ATM is special in many ways because its inventor was born here 96 years ago.

Shepherd Baron`s idea of ​​self-service cash dispenser ie ATM machine came in 1965. His idea was inspired by the machine from which chocolate was produced. After this, he established the first ATM in a London bank in 1967. For the first time, famous TV actor Reg Warne had withdrawn money from this ATM.
