CM making Meghalaya worst performing in NE : BJP

SHILLONG: The BJP on Friday held Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma responsible for making the state the worst performing in the Northeast The party also said that it will charge sheet the Congress-led government in the state to expose its "wrong doings". That is our (BJP) position," he said.Clearing apprehensions over the imposition of Hindi in the Northeast states, Sarma said, "In Assam we are making Assamese mandatory in schools. "If there is a national policy to allow people to come (and settle) in India, it may not be at the cost of the Northeast region," Sarma told reporters here. "We will soon come out with a charge sheet against the Mukul Sangma-led state government," Assam Finance minister and BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma told reporters after the state executive committee meeting of the party here. "Sharma said the country's move to accommodate refugees should not be at the cost of the Northeast region.

That is our (BJP) position," he said.Clearing apprehensions over the imposition of Hindi in the Northeast states, Sarma said, "In Assam we are making Assamese mandatory in schools. In Meghalaya, Khasi Garo and Jaintia should be made mandatory in government schools.""We are going to maintain the diversity in the Northeast and imposition of Hindi language will not be there as we want to reduce regional disparity and promote religious tolerance," he said.
