Meghalaya for teachers’ training for sake of students

SHILLONG: On occasion of the 56th Teachers' Day, the state government urged untrained teachers in the state to get themselves trained. Songs and dances presented by students at functions marked Teachers' Day in the Garo Hills region. The minister felicitated 13 teachers with state awards, 3 teachers with district awards and 3 teachers with special awards.Reports of Teachers' Day celebrations have also come in from other districts of the state. "Teachers' Day reminds us of the sacrifices made by the teachers who teach us, guide us, support us and inspire us to climb the ladder of success," the minister said. "To ensure that the lives of students are well secured, untrained teachers should get themselves registered for various teachers' training courses so that they are equipped to undertake the ever changing challenges we face in the field of education," minister for school education and literacy, Deborah Marak, observed at a function organized by the education department at the State Central Library here, where she also felicitated teachers.

She also expressed the need for providing "window of opportunities" for the teachers to improve, which include using latest technologies available in order to deliver quality education to the students.She urged upon the teachers to work harder and to continue in this noble profession with diligence to bring the state to the forefront and at par with other states of the country in the field of education. The minister felicitated 13 teachers with state awards, 3 teachers with district awards and 3 teachers with special awards.Reports of Teachers' Day celebrations have also come in from other districts of the state. At a function in Nongpoh, Ri-bhoi deputy commissioner CP Gotmare talked about the life and contributions of S Radhakrishnan , a great scholar, philosopher and teacher, who said education does not mean only literacy but also growth of wisdom, tolerance, understanding and compassion "Teachers, besides imparting education and shaping the lives of the students should also broaden the mind of the students," he observed.Parliamentary secretary Robinus Syngkon honoured several teachers of the Jaintia Hills district at a function held in Jowai. Songs and dances presented by students at functions marked Teachers' Day in the Garo Hills region.
