‘Virbhadra again set to stun Congress in Himachal’

DHARAMSHALA: Tallest leader of Congress party in Himachal Pradesh , former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh was all set to shake the party by show of strength at politically significant Kangra district today. In Kangra district in 15 assembly segments, Congress has won only on those seats where there was factionalism in BJP. Singh was demanding the removal of the state party Chief Sukhwinder Sukhu from last long time.This move has perturbed the other big leaders of the party including former Minister GS Bali, former parliamentarian Viplove Thakur and state congress chief Sukhwinder Sukhu. Inquiries revealed that these leaders were going to boycott the event alleging no invitation from the District Congress Committee to them.Congress party in state was in trouble due tothe differences between Virbhadra Camp and his rivals. He said this while addressing a meeting of party workers at Sujanpur assembly constituency in Hamirpur district.

This move was being assumed as a pressure tactic on party high command to remove Sukhwinder Sukhu as state party chief.On Friday, Virbhadra Singh indirectly targeted Sukhu stating to media that wrong distribution of tickets was the only reason of defeat in 2017 assembly elections. He said this while addressing a meeting of party workers at Sujanpur assembly constituency in Hamirpur district. This meeting at Hamirpur was also attended by the leaders from Virbhadra Camp only.Virbhadra faction has called the meeting at Kangra district on today after most of its leaders had boycotted the first visit of Congress in charge for Himachal, Rajni Patil on June 11 at the Congress headquarters in Shimla.When contacted, Jatinder Sharma, spokesperson of the party said that there was no formal was given to anyone and through media the information was circulated. “The meeting would be attended by the all prominent leaders of the party including Leader of Opposition Mukesh Agnihotri” he said.While, on the other hand GS Bali issuing his reaction has said that there were no differences between him and Virbhadra Singh but it was the district congress committee who was assigned task to given timely invite for the meeting. “Those who have read the newspapers for the information of the meeting will attend the event” he said.Well placed sources told the Sukhwinder Sukhu was in Delhi and was relying on the support of the party high command. In Kangra district in 15 assembly segments, Congress has won only on those seats where there was factionalism in BJP. It had lost 12 seats and had secured only 3 seats.
