DHARAMSHALA: A row erupted between the Congress and the BJP on Sunday, after the sport department cancelled permission granted to the opposition to hold a day-long convention at the Indoor Stadium here. The programme was scheduled for Monday and the Congress has been left with little time to shift the venue.The programme was being held to mark the first visit of newly appointed All India Congress Committee ( AICC ) in-charge of party affairs in Himachal, Rajni Patil. She was to preside over the convention here, the venue of which has now been shifted to a marriage palace in Kangra.Congress leaders claimed that they had sought permission from the department of youth services and sports, Kangra, for holding convention on July 9. Terming this move as strange, former minister Sudhir Sharma said, “It has been cancelled at the last moment under political pressure.” he said.Dharamshala Congress spokesperson Jitender Sharma told they had deposited the requisite fee of Rs 30,000 on July 4 and permission was granted the same day. “However, now we have received a letter from the district youth services and sports officer, saying the permission has been cancelled,” he said. No reason has been assigned for cancellation of the permission, he added.No official from the department was available for comment.
