Nurpur bus accident: Kangra DC asked to file affidavit

In continuation to its previous order, the court directed Kangra SP at Dharamshala to ensure that the investigation was completed at the earliest, in accordance with law. The court directed the SP to file an affidavit of compliance within three weeks.In its May 31 order, the court had directed the SP and additional district magistrate, Nurpur, Kangra district, to visit the families of each child, who unfortunately died or suffered injuries in the accident. SHIMLA: While conducting the hearing in the matter related to Nurpur school bus accident, in which 23 schoolchildren were killed in April, the Himachal Pradesh high court on Monday directed the deputy commissioner, Kangra, to file his affidavit stating the steps taken for complying with the court’s earlier order. Directions were also issued to the chairman and secretary of District Legal Services Authority, Kangra, to visit family of the victims and take all measures, which may be required to be carried out in accordance with law.Parents of victims while interacting with the court had alleged that despite repeated endeavour, they were not heard or rendered proper assistance by the SP and additional district magistrate, Nurpur. It said if found necessary, he should ensure that proper counselling of parents through all modes, including psychiatrists and medical officers by increasing the number of frequency of visits to the houses of the children, was also done.A division bench of acting Chief Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice Ajay Mohan Goel also directed that affidavit of compliance with regard thereto be filed by the next date of hearing, August 7.
