BJP meet to discuss probe into charges against previous Congress regime

SHIMLA: The Himachal Pradesh chief secretary on Thursday held a meeting at the state secretariat to discuss the chargesheet prepared by BJP against the previous Congress regime while in opposition. The move is being seen as measure to prevent the Congress party from giving a political colour to the BJP chargesheet against it, sources said. However, additional chief secretary (home) B K Aggarwal did not attend the meeting.While in opposition, BJP had prepared a chargesheet making corruption allegations against then chief minister Virbhadra Singh and his entire cabinet. While in opposition, before the 2012 assembly election, Congress had prepared a chargesheet against the BJP and even constituted a cabinet subcommittee after coming to power to look into the charges. It had submitted the chargesheet to the governor, demanding a probe.

It had submitted the chargesheet to the governor, demanding a probe. Corruption allegations were made against 41 people, including chairmen and vice-chairmen of different boards and corporations.After coming to power in December 2017, the party has talked about the probe frequently nothing actually has happened on the ground.In Himachal, the opposition preparing a chargesheet against the ruling party is not new. While in opposition, before the 2012 assembly election, Congress had prepared a chargesheet against the BJP and even constituted a cabinet subcommittee after coming to power to look into the charges. This time around, the BJP government has entrusted the responsibility to officers. The move is being seen as measure to prevent the Congress party from giving a political colour to the BJP chargesheet against it, sources said.
