Politics erupts over Tulip garden project

As of now, Kashmir has the largest Tulip garden with about 10 lakh flowers in 40 different colors. The tulip garden was supposed to be the second largest in the country.The fate of the project is to be decided. DHARAMSHALA: The project of bringing the second largest Tulip garden of the country to the hill town has run into rough weather with former minister and Congress leader Sudhir Sharma and BJP leader Kishan Kapoor locking horns . The move has also triggered a blame game among the minister and supporters for handing over the project to contractors. He said the area selected for the garden was on the river bed and would be destroyed when water level rose.At this, former urban development minister Sudhir Sharma criticized the minister for politicisng the issue.

DHARAMSHALA: The project of bringing the second largest Tulip garden of the country to the hill town has run into rough weather with former minister and Congress leader Sudhir Sharma and BJP leader Kishan Kapoor locking horns . Around 300 kanals of land had been marked for the project. The controversy has erupted as the project was introduced during the Congress regime.In the last assembly elections, Kapoor defeated Sudhir from Dharamshala constituency and became a cabinet minister in the present BJP government, holding the food and civil supplies portfolio. After visiting the spot with officials, he said the project was a total waste of money.He ordered an inquiry into low quality work and raised questions over site selection. He said the area selected for the garden was on the river bed and would be destroyed when water level rose.At this, former urban development minister Sudhir Sharma criticized the minister for politicisng the issue. Of the funds sanctioned, 40% have been spent on the project so far. The tulip garden was supposed to be the second largest in the country.The fate of the project is to be decided.
