Himachal Pradesh govt submits Rs 50 crore tourism project to Asian Development Bank

SHIMLA: In a bid to boost tourism activities in Mandi, the state government has submitted a tourism development project of Rs 50 crore to the Asian Development Bank for funding. Earlier, the chief minister laid the foundation stone of a cluster university building in Mandi, to be constructed at a cost of Rs 16.19 crore. A helipad will be constructed at Kangnidhar and a medical university will be constructed at Ner Chowk. Chief minister Jai Ram Thakur said this while presiding over the Platinum Jubilee celebration of Vallabh Government Degree College in Mandi on Tuesday.Thakur said a lake and other basic tourism infrastructure will be developed under the project. A total of Rs 50 crore has been sanctioned for the cluster university, initially covering four colleges of the region.Power minister Anil Sharma, who is also the local MLA, said people of Mandi district are lucky to have a chief minister from the district.

A meeting with chief ministers of the northern states was held to chalk out a strategy to eradicate the evil, he said.He announced Rs 25 lakh for the open air gymnasium to be constructed near Paddal and Rs 3 crore for the maintenance of road in Mandi.
