NPA-ridden Kangra bank to recover bonus from staff

Top bank officials have ordered recovery of 41 per cent bonus and ex-gratia paid to its employees last year. The bank has now started recovering the bonus and ex-gratia paid to its employees. The bank used to pay one salary as bonus and ex-gratia to its employees every year, but this year the bonus and ex-gratia was not paid to the employees. This would be recovered in various instalments.It was learnt that the orders to recover bonus have been issued and process for the same would start from this month. Despite that recovery has been ordered.When contacted, assistant general manager, K C Thakur, confirmed that the orders have been issued to recover the bonus.

Dharamshala: Kangra Central Co-operative Bank ( KCCB ), which has remained a bone of contention between BJP and Congress, has been reeling under the weight of its non performing assets (NPA) for a long time now. The bank has now started recovering the bonus and ex-gratia paid to its employees. This would be recovered in various instalments.It was learnt that the orders to recover bonus have been issued and process for the same would start from this month. Despite that recovery has been ordered.When contacted, assistant general manager, K C Thakur, confirmed that the orders have been issued to recover the bonus. “Orders have been issued and recovery will be made in five instalments starting from salary payable next month,” he said.It was said that the objection was raised because the bonus and ex-gratia, which should have been paid from the net profit of the bank, were paid from gross profit.The KCC bank was one of biggest cooperative banks of the state, having nearly 200 branches extended across Kangra, Una, Hamirpur, Lahaul-Spiti and Kullu districts.
