Bring HP under Chandigarh office for faster green nod CM

SHIMLA: Chief minister Jai Ram Thakur has requested the Union government to bring Himachal Pradesh under the regional office, Chandigarh, instead of Dehradun, so that the state can get clearances under Forest Conservation Act (FCA) with more convenience. Expressing concern over monkey menace, he said even though monekys had been declared vermin in about 38 tehsils and sub-tehsils of the state, the menace continues unabated. He also demanded extending the limit of approval for FCA clearances to 10 hectares from the existing one hectare.Thakur was presiding over a meeting with senior officers of the Union ministry of environment, forest and climate change led by director general of forests and special secretary of the ministry, Siddhanta Dass.
