80-year-old woman dies after being hit by train in Himachal

DHARAMSHALA: An 80-year-old woman died in a train accident on Thursday at Maranda area of Palampur region in Kangra district . It is said that the deceased was crossing the railway track when she was hit by the coach and died on the spot.Superintendent of police, Kangra, Santosh Patial confirmed the incident. He said that the body was sent for post mortem examination.The deceased has been identified as Jangtamba Devi, a resident of Talnu village of the area. The narrow gauge train was heading for Pathankot in Punjab from Paprola area of Himachal Pradesh Sri Pal, driver of the train said the train was on a sharp curve and he was blowing regular horn due to which the woman escaped of being crushed under the engine but she was allegedly hit with one of the coaches and died on the spot.Family of the deceased said that the lady was mentally unstable and had left home without informing anyone.
