Congress high command seeks report on Virbhadra SinghSukhvinder Singh Sukhu feud

SHIMLA: The Congress high command has sought a report from the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) on the issue of infighting between former chief minister Virbhadra Singh and former state president Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. Negi said the party high command had removed Sukhu from the PCC post and celebrating this and using foul language against him was uncalled for. While the high command wants them to resolve the matter, the infighting in Congress’s state unit continues. On Wednesday, state women Congress president Sushila Negi announced to lodge a complaint against Virbhadra with AICC in charge Rajni Patil. She said they would lodge a complaint against Virbhadra with Patil.To mount pressure for action against Virbhadra, many supporters of Sukhu from Hamirpur district have tendered their resignation from the party’s district unit.

It has asked newly-appointed PCC president Kuldeep Singh Rathore to submit the report.Meanwhile, the party will hold a rally in Shimla to put a united show before the parliamentary elections.While Virbhadra enjoys the support of majority of MLAs, Sukhu, during the last six years as state president, has a stronghold over the organization by appointing people of his choice. While the high command wants them to resolve the matter, the infighting in Congress’s state unit continues. On Wednesday, state women Congress president Sushila Negi announced to lodge a complaint against Virbhadra with AICC in charge Rajni Patil. Negi and some other leaders of the state women Congress have come out in support of Sukhu and have objected to Virbhadra’s alleged statement at a public meeting at Gajoh in Hamirpur recently against Sukhu. Negi said the party high command had removed Sukhu from the PCC post and celebrating this and using foul language against him was uncalled for. She said they would lodge a complaint against Virbhadra with Patil.To mount pressure for action against Virbhadra, many supporters of Sukhu from Hamirpur district have tendered their resignation from the party’s district unit. To lodge their protest against Virbhadra’s statement against Sukhu, various cells of the Congress, including legal cell, high court bar legal cell and Congress party human rights cell have said they would lodge a complaint with Congress president Rahul Gandhi and party in-charge Patil.Amid the escalated battle between Virbhadra and Sukhu, Patil is arriving on a two-day visit and she would attend the party’s public meeting at Chaura Maidan in Shimla on Thursday.After Sukhu had attacked Virbhadra, 11 Congress MLAs had come out in the ex-CM’s support. A day later, Sukhu had resorted to show of strength with four former state presidents, a former MP, half a dozen sitting MLAs and an equal number of former MLAs coming out in his support.Sources said upset with the infighting, the party high command has asked Rathore to submit a detailed report in this regard.
