Will seek funds for repair of Hindustan Tibet road: CM

Thakur said the road has been damaged at three stretches and Kinnaur has a limited working season.Negi said the funds provided for its improvement are not sufficient as construction cost in Kinnaur is very high. He said administrative approval amounting to Rs 1.93 crore has been accorded during the current financial year for improvement and widening of Pangi to Thopan portion.He said total length of road is 105 kms of which 64.68 kms is motorable and 17.97 kms is jeepable. Shimla: Chief minister Jai Ram Thakur said the government would seek more funds from the Centre for repair of Old Hindustan Tibet road in Kinnaur considering its strategic importance.Earlier, Congress MLA from Kinnaur Jagat Singh Negi raised the matter in the assembly and sought to know allocation of funds for the improvement of Road from Rangle to Rogi and Pangi to Thopan stretches and government’s action plan.Negi said the road was constructed in 1962 during Chinese aggression.In his reply, Thakur said there is a budget provision of Rs 28.51 lakh for improvement of road from Rangle to Rogi.
