PM Narendra Modi to lay stone of Central University in Himachal Pradesh

He said that foundation stone of the central university would be laid on February 26 at Dharamshala. He said that it takes time to implement announcements made in the first budget. SHIMLA: Leader of opposition (LoP) Mukesh Agnihotri and chief minister Jai Ram Thakur exchange barbs during the discussion on governor’s address in the House on Tuesday.Agnihotri alleged that budget announcements of last year, vision document of the government and the governor’s address lacked uniformity. He said that priority of state government was not heli-taxi but to ensure regular flights to the tribal areas to airlift patients and those in need. He said that Udaan-II scheme would be launched in the state by March.

He said that in the governor’s address, schemes of central government were mentioned instead of state government’s achievements.Countering him, Thakur said that Agnihotri should have understood from former chief minister Virbhadra Singh that it takes time to implement the first budget announcements on ground.The LoP said that in the address there was no mention of how many national highways had been approved by the Centre or whether Rs 65,000 crore was received from the Centre for these highways as promised.He also questioned the delay in laying the foundation stone of Central University of Himachal Pradesh in Kangra district and failure of heli-taxi. He said that mention of economic and financial package to state was also not mentioned and neither was the House informed whether the 8 lakh students of government schools got free uniform and laptops from the state government as promised.He said that in his last budget speech, the CM had mentioned about constructing tunnels but in the address it was not informed how much progress has made on this front.While countering him, Thakur said that 30 schemes announced in the budget last year has left the opposition worried.
