NamoAgain sweatshirts of BJP MLAs in HP assembly leave Congress fuming

SHIMLA: Wearing of “Namo Again” sweatshirts by two BJP MLAs inside the state assembly during the ongoing budget session on Wednesday has left the opposition Congress perturbed.Leader of Opposition Mukesh Agnihotri objecting to the sweatshirts worn by MLAs termed it against the parliamentary traditions. He said that written complaint has been made by Congress Chief Whip Jagat Singh Negi to speaker registering our protest. He said that sweatshirt neither had symbol of any party nor it had written any political slogan. “We are proud to wear this sweatshirt,” he added. He said that BJP has started the wrong trend in the assembly and BJP MLAs are entering the House with political agenda which is not right.Congress legislators raised the issue in the House on which Speaker Dr Rajeev Bindal taking note of it directed the BJP MLAs including Surinder Shourie and Vinod Kumar not to wear such clothes again.

He directed them to respect the sanctity of House.While interacting with media persons outside the House, Mukesh Agnihotri said that “Namo Again” is BJP’s agenda for poll campaign and House rules makes it clear that no one can wear clothes that indicates towards political agenda or poll campaign . He said that written complaint has been made by Congress Chief Whip Jagat Singh Negi to speaker registering our protest. He said that Speaker on their complaint has issued the direction that no one case wear such clothes inside the House in future.BJP MLA from Banjar, Surinder Shourie said that opposition of Mukesh Agnihotri only shows that frustration. He said that Hamirpur MP of BJP, Anurag Thakur had worn the same sweatshirt with “Namo Again’ written on it to Lok Sabha and no one had objected to it in the parliament. He said that Congress in Himachal Pradesh has no issue against the BJP government that is why they are trying to make the sweatshirts an issue.He said that Narendra Modi is Prime Minister of country and people of country want to see him again as Prime Minister. He said that “Namo Again” is not a campaign of any party. He said that sweatshirt neither had symbol of any party nor it had written any political slogan. “We are proud to wear this sweatshirt,” he added.
