Manali: Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s Prini village will be made a smart soon. Himachal Pradesh government has drafted a plan to make the village digitally sound and turn it into an eco-tourism hub.As per the plan, the villagers will be provided free Wi-Fi, streets fitted with CCTV cameras and proper streetlights. The village will have proper sewers, drinking water supply, sanitation and garbage treatment facility. The village school will start smart classes. All works in village and land records will be digitised. The houses will have solar roof panels to generate power and heat the water.Kullu deputy commissioner Yunus said, “Prini will become an example of best eco-friendly model village in the country. It will also become an eco-tourism village.”Former panchayat pradhan Kundan Lal said officials from different departments have been visiting Prini to apprise the residents about the planned facelift. “They told us about the facilities to be provided to us. We have requested the officials to not just make the village digitally and technically sound, but to also ensure long-term maintenance.”Prini gained prominence after Vajpayee built a house here. Village pradhan Shiv Dayal said the residents were happy about the development of the infrastructure. “Initially, Prini village will get all these facilities. After successful execution, other villages of this panchayat would be developed on the same pattern. This would be the best homage to Vajpayee,” he said.
