2 Jammu & Kashmir students arrested in Solan

SHIMLA: After arresting a Kashmiri student of a private university at Baddi for showing sympathy towards terrorists, two more students from J&K of Dr Y S Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni in Solan district , were arrested on Sunday for showing sympathy towards terrorists and making anti-national comments. "Some of the comments made by them on Facebook read 'Our heart beats for Pakistan', 'Kashmir is not integral part of India', 'Long Live Mujahideen' and they had also liked the page 'Pakistan army'. All these comments were made between 2011 and 2013," Dr Shiv Kumar said, adding that that a case under sections 153B (imputation, assertions prejudicial to national-integration) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC was registered against both students after which they were arrested.

Both were produced in a local court on Monday and taken on three-day police remand.One of the arrested student is Peerjada Tabrish (22), a resident of Shopian in Jammu & Kashmir , who is a student of MSc plant pathology while the other has been identified as Aqib Rasool (19) of Bandipora and a student of BSc (II).Solan additional superintendent of police Dr Shiv Kumar said local advocate Neeraj Bhardwaj of Ber village in Solan had lodged a complaint about the anti-national comments posted by the accused on a social networking site.
