A decade after political tussle, ground breaking ceremony for Central University takes place in HP

Though the ground breaking ceremony was attended by several leaders but it was the effective branding and campaign by BJP MP Thakur and his social media team which attracted attention. The two areas where the campuses will come up have been shortlisted keeping the political interests in mind of the sitting BJP MPs. Singh told the crowd that he was not in the race for claiming credit but was happy that the university was coming up also in Dehra. While Jadrangal comes under the Kangra parliamentary constituency, represented by BJP MP Shanta Kumar, Dehra falls in Hamirpur parliamentary seat, represented by BJP MP Anurag Thakur.The university remained a point of dispute between both the parties as when the Congress was in power it wanted to have the campus at Jadrangal in Kangra while BJP was fighting for the campus in Hamirpur parliamentary constituency. It is a prestige fight for Thaku as BJP while fighting anti incumbency hopes that such steps would only end helping Thakur.It was in 2009 when UPA government was at centre and BJP ruling in HP that this university started working in state, the announcement for the same was made in 2007 during UPA regime.Independent MLA draws attentionEven as bad weather continued to play spoilsport, it was Hoshiar Singh, independent MLA, who attracted the maximum attention from the crowd in the BJP bastion. Singh told the crowd that he was not in the race for claiming credit but was happy that the university was coming up also in Dehra.
