'None in my family in liquor business'

He alleged that various mafias including transfer mafia, mining mafia, liquor mafia and land mafia are active in the state.He said on the pattern of neighbouring state, drug mafia is active in the state. Retaliating on the allegations of BJP that mafia is ruling in the state, Virbhadra said that in actual mafia was overpowering during previous BJP regime. He said mining mafia is active in entire state. BJP MLA Suresh Bhardwaj while participating in the discussion raised the issue of Afghan students beaten in Shimla. He also alleged that hydel mafia too is active in the state.He said in hydel projects 1,5002,000 people have gone missing but police has not taken any action.

SHIMLA: Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Monday said that none of his relative is in volved in liqu or business or supplying liquor to the Himachal Pradesh Beverages Limited (HPBL) formed by the state government.He said that the corporation is supplied directly by the manufacturers and due to the transparent policy of government and so far it has earned net profit of over Rs 400 crores.Virbhadra said this while intervening in the discussion on cut motion brought by opposition BJP members in the state assembly. He said that formation of HPBL is a revolutionary step of state government as it has ended the monopoly of 510 families in liquor business.He said these families tried to fail the HPBL, but strong determination of the state government defeated their designs. Retaliating on the allegations of BJP that mafia is ruling in the state, Virbhadra said that in actual mafia was overpowering during previous BJP regime. He said it is wrong to level allegations of mafia and advised the opposition on their choice of words.He said government is making every possible effort to act against the anti-social elements strictly. He claimed that crime rate has dropped in the state and in all the cases registered, detailed investigations have been done and people were punished.Earlier, while moving the cut motion on police and concerned organisations, BJP MLA Mahinder Singh Thakur alleged poor law and order in the state. He also raised the issue of Yug kidnapping and murder case and missing of Dhruv Lakhanpal.He said that in Yug kidnapping and murder case, arrested accused have moved to the Supreme Court against the daily hearings but the state government could not even arrange a lawyer to oppose the accused in the Apex Court.
