MANALI: While unexpected snowfall in June has thrilled many tourists in Himachal , it has also put many in trouble, especially those who are driving or trekking across the high Himalayan mountain passes.This is the peak trekking and mountain climbing season. Hundreds of professional and amateur mountaineers are on the mountains. Fresh snowfall, that is continuing repeatedly, has poses danger for many of them. According to experts, climbing expedition teams remain prepared to face such situations but many tourists going for simple trekking generally do not take along equipment to deal with snowfall."This is normal phenomenon for professional mountain climbers. But the people who are stuck in problem are generally tourists who have no idea about the unpredictable weather on Himalayas."The problem becomes more serious if they do not hire local guide," Kapil Thakur , a local mountaineer, said. Many climbers are attempting to scale mount Deo Tibba, Hanuman Tibba, Friendship and many other popular high altitude peaks which receive snow round the year. "Climbers are habitual of this. Sometime even a trained mountaineer feels helpless if snowfall is fast and very heavy. Such snowfall has trapped a large number of vehicles many times on Rohtang, Kunzum and Sach passes," he added.
