Himachal CM says sitting BJP MLA trying to take credit of development

SHIMLA: Himachal Pradesh chief minister Virbhadra Singh sitting BJP MLA from Nachan was trying to prove that entire public gathering at Kanaid was efforts of his hard work. The government of India was just giving funds for the panchayats and not for Panchayat Samitis and Zila Parishad, he added. He said that MLA of opposition party should not misguide the people of the area. He said that it becomes the duty of elected representatives and MLAs to look into the welfare of people and carry out development works. He said that Congress government is committed for equal development of the state.

He said that it becomes the duty of elected representatives and MLAs to look into the welfare of people and carry out development works. He said that MLAs get a separate budget for that.While addressing public meeting at Kanaid, Virbhadra Singh said that sitting MLA (of BJP) Vinod Kumar may have worked in his constituency but it was wrong to claim that entire development was carried out by him. He said that it was the government which was behind the development of all the areas alike. Development was a continuous process irrespective of the reasons that the constituency having MLA of opposition will not be developed, he added.He said that none of the area is ignored whether it is constituency of the MLA from the ruling party or the opposition. He said that Congress government is committed for equal development of the state. He said that MLA of opposition party should not misguide the people of the area. He said that in annual plan meeting the priorities of all MLAs were discussed and taken into consideration.He said that three-tier Panchayati Raj system was the backbone of the democratic set up and several times the state government had raised the issue with centre for releasing funds to Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti's also.He said that funds to carry out development by Panchayat Samitis and Zila Parishad were being borne by the state government from its own resources. The government of India was just giving funds for the panchayats and not for Panchayat Samitis and Zila Parishad, he added.
