CHANDIGARH: In a freak incident, a girl studying in BA second year, killed her friend with the help of her boyfriend in order to fake her own murder. The conspiring duo also disfigured the victim's face by pouring acid While the incident occurred on Tuesday, it came to light on Friday when police arrested Jyoti, the accused student and her boyfriend Krishan Kumar, an artist and Jyoti's classmate as well.According to sub-inspector Parveen Kumar, the investigating officer, the duo wanted to kill one male friend as well so that they could fake Krishan's murder too. "They had simple motive that their family and friends will presume that they have died and they would start their new lives under new identities,'' said Parveen Kumar, adding that both the accused have been remanded to police custody for three days.The murdered girl was identified as Simran, daughter of one Alok Dubey. Simran's body, with a disfigured face, was found in a servant quarter of a Gaushala on the Sonipat road. Documents establishing Jyoti's identity were found lying near Simran's body. The victim's father had raised suspicion about the body, forcing police to change the course of investigations, said police."We tracked the people who were in touch with Simran and Jyoti before and after the incident. Initially, it was established that victim was in touch with Jyoti and Krishan. Krishan was rounded up from Panipat. During interrogation, he revealed that truth. Later, Jyoti was arrested from some place in Shimla,'' said the cop associated with the investigation.Referring to Krishan, the police said, "Krishan had faked his kidnapping a month ago to extricate money from his family. Now, he had plans to murder his friend in a similar fashion and fake his own death." Investigations revealed that Jyoti and Krishan called Simran to a place and offered her a sedative-laced cold drink . As she became unconscious, they strangled her and Jyoti put her own cloths on Simran.
