Srinagar airfare halts return of Kashmiri kids

Jammu and Kashmir Students Organisation (JKSO) president Khwaja Itrat said, “We are finding it hard to arrange for airfare. GoAir flight originating from Ahmedabad halts at Chandigarh before proceeding to Srinagar and IndiGo flight originating from Kolkata has a brief halt at Chandigarh and then proceeds for Srinagar. As the flight gets full, the airfare escalates manifold.”In Srinagar, many organisations and residents are giving donations and other help so that the stranded students may reach home. An airline operator at the Chandigarh airport said, “The airfare escalates if bookings are sought at the last minute. We are now planning to charter a flight to fly 250 to 300 students expected to reach Mohali by Tuesday.”Currently, Chandigarh has two connecting flights to Srinagar.
