When major parts of India are filling up with pre-monsoon rain. The twin capitals Jammu and Srinagar saw the hottest day of the season.

With 34.7°C and 42.7°C as their respective maximum temperatures, twin capitals Srinagar and Jammu experienced the hottest day of the season on Wednesday, June 9.

An official of the MET department said: "Srinagar and Jammu witnessed the hottest day of this season so far as the maximum temperature rose to 34.7°C and 42.7°C in these cities respectively yesterday."

However, the conditions might cool down as the weekend approaches, with the meteorological department forecasting light rain in the region on Friday and Saturday.

"We are expecting a wet spell for two days beginning on Friday," the official added.

During the early hours of Thursday, Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 19.2°C, Pahalgam had 11.3°C and Gulmarg 13.6°C.

Further, Leh town of Ladakh had 14.1°C, Kargil 10.2°C and Drass 6.4°C as the night`s lowest temperature, while Katra recorded 28.2°C, Batote 21.4°C, Banihal 19.5°C and Bhaderwah 19.7°C.
