Surat: A 21-year-old woman from Umra area of the city on Thursday registered a complaint of rape against a man who has been sexually exploiting her for the past 18 months. He had threatened to upload her videos on social media if she didn’t accede to his demands. The woman underwent medical test even as police launched a manhunt for the accused, who is on the run.Avdesh Kushwaha (22), a resident of Vesu who is originally from Uttar Pradesh, was booked under IPC Sections 376 and 506 (2) for sexually exploiting the woman since August 2016. The accused went to the woman’s house in December 7, 2017, and warned her in front of her parents that if she ever got married, then if he would upload her videos in his possession on social media.The woman’s family is known to the accused and therefore her father asked him to sort out the matter amicably between them, but he went to the former’s college and threatened her again.“The woman was fed up his wickedness and sought her parents’ advice who supported her in registering a police complaint against the accused on Thursday. We have started a search for the accused, who has fled to his native place in UP. A police team will soon go to Hamirpur district of Uttar Pradesh,” a police officer said.
