People demand speedy probe in girl’s elopement

Surat: A mob gheraoed Varachha police station to demand speedy investigation in the alleged case of ‘love jihad’ here on Friday. Investigations in the case are on under the supervision of deputy commissioner of police, they said. A complaint was registered at Varachha police station on June 2. He came in touch with the girl in his academy. The couple may have fled to Tausif’s native place in UP, sources said.

The girl’s father and others later met senior police officials in this connection.A girl, who had recently failed in her class XII examination, reportedly eloped with her dance teacher on May 30.Tausif Tahir Salman, 30, a native of Uttar Pradesh, ran a dance academy. He came in touch with the girl in his academy. The couple may have fled to Tausif’s native place in UP, sources said. A complaint was registered at Varachha police station on June 2. Investigations in the case are on under the supervision of deputy commissioner of police, they said.
