Surat: Closing ceremony of the yearlong centenary celebration of MTB Arts College was organized at the Sarvajanik Education Society (SES) campus on Tuesday. Gujarat governor O P Kohli remained present at the event along with other dignitaries.A number of SES members, college alumni , faculty members and students participated in the event. At the event, the governor told universities and colleges to celebrate 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi by organizing various events that can inspire students about his works.In his address Kohli said, “Let us make the new generation educated and cultured to create new India. Higher educational institutes should play important role of becoming link between modernization and tradition.”While talking about Swami Vivekanand, he said, “He was supporter of developing strong and qualified individuals. He said education is not limited to improving intellect, but should also awake humanity for nation building.”Addressing young students, Kohli said, “Young students should take the country to new heights. New India will be developed India where students and education institutes will play key role.”He suggested universities to undertake the University Social Responsibility on lines of projects done by corporates under the Company Social Responsibility.Kohli inaugurated a memorial through remote control developed in SES campus in the memory of 100 years of MTB Arts College. Family member of the founder donor of MTB Arts College Ashwin Modi was felicitated by the governor.
