Weaving unit worker’s organs give new life to four

Surat: Four persons got a new lease of life when family members of Jignesh Bhanabhagwanwala decided to donate his organs after his death.Jignesh (41) from Kshatriya community, worked as a looms master in a weaving unit located at Anjana. He lived on Bamroli road in Surat.He fell unconscious on June 16 while on duty. He was initially treated at a nearby hospital, but was later shifted to a private hospital, where he was diagnosed with deposition of blood clot in his brains. He was operated upon, but he died on the operation table on June 19.When his family, which include his wife Kamini (40), daughter Quincy (14) and son Shiv (12), were given the option of organ donation, they readily agreed.A team of doctors from Ahmedabad’s Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Centre (IKDRC) was asked to transplant Jignesh’s kidneys, while his two eyes were donated Lok Drashti Chakshu Bank.One of Jignesh’s kidneys was given to 34-year-old Shikha Agarwal of Surat and other to Sanket Bhavsar of Ahmedabad.Donate life, a Surat-based non-governmental organization, felicitated the entire process.
