Building’s wall collapses in Surat during rain

Mangrol in Surat district and Dang district too received 43mm and 25mm of rain, respectively, during the day.The city received 35mm of rain in the morning. Surat: Wall of a building collapsed and a tree got uprooted besides there was an incident of short-circuit during rain in the city on Sunday morning. It had received rain the night before too. Fire Brigade officials said the single storey building was built 35 years ago.Mangrol taluka and Umarpada taluka in Surat district recorded 43mm and 15mm of rain, respectively.Dang was the only other district in south Gujarat to record significant rain apart from Surat. A wall of an old building collapsed at Nawabwadi opposite New Textile Market on Ring Road at around 11.30am.

A tree got uprooted at Krishna Nagar Society on old Amroli-Kosad Road and fell on DGVCL line which disrupted power supply for some time in the area. However, there were no casualties. A wall of an old building collapsed at Nawabwadi opposite New Textile Market on Ring Road at around 11.30am. However, no one was injured. Fire Brigade officials said the single storey building was built 35 years ago.Mangrol taluka and Umarpada taluka in Surat district recorded 43mm and 15mm of rain, respectively.Dang was the only other district in south Gujarat to record significant rain apart from Surat. Subir recorded 45mm, Saputara 27mm, Ahwa 26mm and Wagai 19mm of rain. India Meteorological Department officials said monsoon would get active in the region by next week.
