Navsari inundated 200 people shifted to safer places

All talukas of Navsari district has recorded more than 150 mm rain but Vasda recorded just 60 mm of rains. We have also shifted 100 people from Kaliyawadi of Navsari and nearly 55 from Dashera tekri area of the town. SURAT: Nearly 200 people from Navsari town and nearby Vijalpore were shifted to safer places after heavy rains lashed the region, throwing normal life out of gear.Navsari town received up to 259 mm of rain in 28 hours ending at 10 am on Wednesday. District collector Dr MD Modiya said, "We have shifted nearly 45 people from Amidhara area of Vijalpore, as water had entered in their homes. Navsari Grid over-bridge road has been closed and as a result GSRTC buses going to eastern villages have come to a halt.Nearby Jalalpre of Navsari district, too, recorded 236 mm of rain.

We have also shifted 100 people from Kaliyawadi of Navsari and nearly 55 from Dashera tekri area of the town."According to administration, areas like Kotak mill, Halpati, Suryanagar of Vijalpore and Shantadevi road, Dashera tekri and some others of Navsari town are under water.Modiya said, "As there is no rain in last one hour, water have started receding. We hope things will clear out by evening.”Navsari collector has also closed Venganiya river bridge after water crossed the danger mark. Navsari Grid over-bridge road has been closed and as a result GSRTC buses going to eastern villages have come to a halt.Nearby Jalalpre of Navsari district, too, recorded 236 mm of rain.
