Social activists urge state government to allow outside food in theatres

In the next few days, we are filing a petition in Gujarat High Court seeking relief for the moviegoers and against black-marketing of tickets on online ticketing websites.”It was in May, Surat Municipal Corporation’s (SMC) west zone, had served notice to Cinepolis multiplex located in Adajan to remove food counters and stalls inside the lobby on third floor. Four other illegal restaurants and food courts being operated inside the multiplexes in various parts of the city were also forced to shut down and eight restaurants in four multiplexes and theatres served notices by food department of the civic body.Sanjay Ezhawa of National Yuva Sangathan said, “We have appealed to the moviegoers to boycott all the theatres on July 15. Maharashtra Government has clearly directed cinema halls to allow outside food or else face action. The Gujarat Government should follow the suit and announce the same for multiplexes across Gujarat.”
