Thousands take part in Rath Yatra in Surat

Many people of Odisha took part in the Rath Yatra taken out from Katragam. SURAT: Thousands of devotees participated in the Rath Yatras of Lord Jagannath taken out in different parts of the city on Saturday. Apart from the two major Rath Yatras, small processions were taken out in Pandesara and Sachin areas of the city. Devotees from Odisha living in the city took part in the Rath Yatra with great enthusiasm. The chariot of Lord Jagannath, Balram and Subhadra led the Rath Yatra that started from Surat railway station and culminated at ISKCON temple at Jahangirpura in the late evening.

SURAT: Thousands of devotees participated in the Rath Yatras of Lord Jagannath taken out in different parts of the city on Saturday. Apart from the two major Rath Yatras, small processions were taken out in Pandesara and Sachin areas of the city. Devotees seemed to be enjoying light drizzle and cloudy weather while taking part in the processions.The Rath Yatra taken out by ISKCON was 2km-long and had the largest crowd comprising men and women of different age groups. The chariot of Lord Jagannath, Balram and Subhadra led the Rath Yatra that started from Surat railway station and culminated at ISKCON temple at Jahangirpura in the late evening. Moving across Ring Road to Athwa Gate and some areas of Adajan, the Rath Yatra reached Jahangirpura through Rander main road.Apart from the chariot in the Rath Yatra, there were tableaux which depicted the life of Lord Krishna.The tableaux placed on different vehicles gave glimpses of important events connected with Lord Krishna. Women and men brushed and washed the roads before other devotees pulled the chariot along even as hundred others sang and danced to bhajans.Kirtan mandli of ISKCON and Nasik dhol continuously kept singing devotional songs.There were thousands of people in another Rath Yatra that started from Lanka Vijay Hanuman Temple at Katargam. Devotees from Odisha living in the city took part in the Rath Yatra with great enthusiasm. Many people of Odisha took part in the Rath Yatra taken out from Katragam. Prasad was distributed to people all along the route of different processions.
