Surat: Three persons were arrested on Sunday for allegedly murdering a 19-year-old college student near Kailash Nagar in Udhna area of the city. Samadhan Pawar, a resident of Udhna , was stabbed to death in broad daylight on a crowded road on Saturday by the trio suspecting his involvement in an attack on the brother of one of the accused a year ago.Police arrested Aakash Das, 22; Ankur Singh Rajput, 19; and Kiran alias Gataliya Thakre Patil, 18; from their houses after they were identified from CCTV footage. Police seized the knives used in the attack and also the motorcycle on which the trio had reached the spot.Police investigation revealed that Ankur’s brother was stabbed on his thigh a year ago by a group of men. Ankur and his friends suspected that Pawar was involved in the attack. They stabbed Pawar to take revenge. The murder had taken place a few metres away from BRC police chowki. The video of the brutal murder was captured on a CCTV camera and it went viral on social media.Pawar was talking to someone on his mobile phone near Kailash Nagar when the three men arrived there on a motorcycle. They started a conversation with him and then took out their knives and stabbed Pawar multiple times even as he was trying to leave the space. Pawar collapsed on the ground and died on the spot.Deepak Sirsat, the victim’s neighbour, lodged police complaint in this connection.Pawar’s father is unemployed because of poor health. His mother too is suffering from some illness. Pawar’s elder sister is married. He was enrolled as an external student in an undergraduate course at the university here.
