Surat: The CID Crime team arrested Bhaveshshree Davda , an accused in a case of fraudulent loan of Rs9 lakh, based on an MoU that was by signed by her company with Lajpore Central Jail (LCJ), Surat to carry out welfare activity for prisoners. Police took her custody from Ahwa jail on Thursday.The CID Crime is investigating how the accused managed to secure the loan and the conspiracy to make money by involving various government departments.“Apart from cheating with bank and jail, we are investigating if the accused had carried out similar frauds at other places. We suspect that the accused did cheat more people and that the details would come out during her questioning,” said Ashish Bhatia, DGP, CID crime, Gujarat Police.“The CID Crime team took custody of the accused from Ahwa. She will be produced in court on Friday. We will seek her custody for ongoing investigation,” said M M Sarvaiya, police sub- inspector, CID Crime, Surat.Davda was booked by CID Crime on a complaint by a jailer of LCJ. The accused had managed to get a recommendation letter from the IGP jail in 2015 and thus approached various jails in the state. Davda told local officials that her representative Mehulsinh Vaghela, who was actually another accused Ankit Mehta, will approach them for discussion. The MoU was signed by Mehta.
