7 from Guj in top ten in CA finals

At least 10 students from city figure amongst top 50 rankers in CA Final (old course) and three students amongst top 20 in CA Final (new course).Giving details about the results, CA Nirav Choksi ,Chairman, Ahmedabad branch of WIRC of ICAI said “The Ahmedabad centre performed well in CA Final exams held in May, 2018. Aagam Sandipbhai Dalal ranked second in the country in CA Final (old course) and Sagar Pragneshbhai Shah ranked 7th in the exam in new course. For CA Final (old course) 251 students passed (one of the groups or both groups) out of 907,which shows a 27.67% success rate. AHMEDABAD/SURAT: Aagam Dalal secured all-India second rank in the CA final exam (old syllabus) results declared on Friday. “My six-month abstinence from social media has paid off,” said Dalal, son of a broker.Dalal is one of seven students from Ahmedabad and Surat who have secured places among the top 10 rankers in India. In old syllabus, Surat boys Anurag Bagaria secured AIR 3, Devansh Shah got AIR 4 while Saurabh Gaurisaria secured sixth place in the country.In the CA final new course, Surat-boys Prit Shah secured first rank in India, Naman Kejriwal got AIR 6 while Sagar Shah secured AIR 7.The Institute of Chartered Accounts of India (ICAI) announced the results for CA Final exams held in May 2018 for old and new revised courses on Friday. Aagam Sandipbhai Dalal ranked second in the country in CA Final (old course) and Sagar Pragneshbhai Shah ranked 7th in the exam in new course. Both appeared from Ahmedabad city.At least 16 students from Gujarat have figured in the list of top 50 students in the final examination of CA (old and new course) conducted in May this year. Of these 16, there were 13 students from Ahmedabad.According to the results which were declared on Friday, of the 13 toppers from Ahmedabad, 10 students who had appeared in their examination with old course made it to the top 50, while only three students who had appeared with the new course had made it to the top 50. In May 2017, it was 26.88%.For CA Final examination (new course) 10 students passed out of 26 in Ahmedabad centre which shows a 38.46% success rate.Three students from Surat city have excelled in the final examinations of CA course. According to officials a total of 1,296 students had appeared with two groups and 191 students cleared the examination with a success rate of 14.74%, this was 19.59% in May 2017.Agam Dalal, who ranked second in the country, said he had scored 99.99 percentile marks in class XII. Dalal says that his father is a share broker and he did not expect any rank in the CA final examination. He says that for the last six months he was away from social media. “One does not need to do hard work, but all one had to do is smart work,” he said.Anurag Bagaria has secured all-India rank 3; Devansh Shah all-India rank 4 and Saurabh Gourisaria all-india rank 5 in the examinations conducted on the basis of existing syllabus for the course.Anurag said, “I would like to take up a corporate job. I also plan to do either CFA or MBA ( finance ).” His father is a textile businessman and mother a housewife. Anurag is the first chartered accountant in the family.Devansh Shah who is second in Ahmedabad and 12th in the country said “This is the first time that I have ranked. My hobby is to play piano and guitar. I have also taken part in a reality show and would want to pursue my life in music and then pursue a career in CA. I was expecting to fail in the law paper, but I am surprised to score a rank.”Sagar Shah who is top ranker in the new course in Ahmedabad and was ranked seventh in the country said that the rank has come as a surprise for him as he was not expecting it. “I love watching English movies and serials.” Sagar said that his father and his brother are CAs. “I would like to do a certified public account course from US and Canada and then pursue a career in a multinational company,” he said.In the new course the rankers were Sagar Shah (all-India 7), Jinay Shah (all-India12) and Snehal Thakkar (all-India 20).Among others who were ranked in country in old scheme were Sapan Shah (all-India 16), Khushbu Tambolui (all-India 19), Shubham Mundra (all-India 20), Charmi Thakkar (all-India 23), Urvi Shah (all-India 26), Pooja Agarwal (all-India 31), Yashvi Shah (all-India 41), Shobit Daga (all-India 47).
