SURAT: Police nabbed a woman from Limbayat on Tuesday with 170 gram of contraband substance identified as MD or Ecstasy worth around Rs 5 lakh.The woman had brought the drugs to sell it to her clients. Police investigation revealed that the woman was earlier arrested in 2003 by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) for selling drugs.Special Operation Group (SOG) sleuths nabbed Naseemabanu alias Meera for allegedly possessing the drug for selling. Police sent the narcotics substance for examination to Forensic Science Laboratory. Preliminary investigation by police revealed that the drug found from the woman is MD. Police claimed that the drug is valued at around Rs 5 lakh in international market.“We are now investigating from where the drug was brought by the accused. We are also investigating if a network of drug paddlers is active in the city,” said a police officer of SOG.Scientific name of MD is methylenedioxymethamphetamine and it is also known as MDMA. It is popularly called Ecstasy or Molly in different parts of the world. It is widely consume drug by drug abusers which can keep a person intoxicated for over an hour with single doze.
