Surat: The local crime branch (LCB) of Surat railway police on Thursday handed over a courier delivery man to its Mumbai counterparts after he was caught at Borivli station on suspicion of carrying some smuggled items.Official sources said that one Manish Banwarilal, 21, employed as courier boy with the Air Parcel service in Mumbai had boarded the Suryanagri Express from Borivli station on Thursday with a bag containing the items to be delivered at Surat. He entered the reservation coach on the unreserved ticket and was later caught by the ticket checker (TC) and handed over to the railway protection force (RPF) in the coach.On frisking the bag, the RPF personnel found few parcels that he was going to deliver the firm’s Surat sub-office.Talking with TOI, sub-inspector of railway LCB, NM Talati said, “The courier boy was brought to LCB station by the RPF personnel. Suryanagri Express runs between Borivli and Surat without any stoppage. When we checked the bag, there were parcels with names and contact details printed on it. Hence, we recorded the statement of the courier boy without checking the parcels and handed over the Mumbai LCB.”Talati added, “There are many courier persons between Mumbai and Surat who are moving with valuable goods like diamonds, gold and jewellery.
