Worker dies after textile mill slab collapses

The fire fighters immediately took him to the New Civil Hospital (NCH).After few hours of treatment, the textile worker succumbed to the injuries.Sources said that the textile mill is very old and that it needs immediate repairs.A fire officer said, “We have initiated process of serving notice to the mill owner for not carrying out repairs and renovation at the old mill. The mill has been ordered to shut for indefinite period.” SURAT: A textile worker succumbed to serious head injuries when the portion of a concrete slab at the powerloom unit collapsed on the early morning hours of Saturday.The deceased identified as Jitu Bahera, 30, a resident of Udhna was working in the Darshan fabric mill located at Thakornagar near Marathi school in Udhna.The incident occurred at about 1.45 am when the deceased was operating the powerloom machine and the portion of the concrete slab collapsed.Sources in the fire and emergency service of the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) said that a portion of the concrete slab hit the deceased and he fell on the ground in a pool of blood.
