Tribal teacherrsquos kidneys give new lease of life to 2 persons

Surat: Kidneys of a brain-dead tribal teacher have given a new lease of life to two persons on Tuesday.Jayanti Vasava, 59, a resident of Bharuch, who had retired as primary teacher from a school at Anjoli village, was going to Jalaram Bapa temple on September 8 when his motorcycle was hit by a truck near Netrang crossroads. He fell off from the motorcycle and sustained injuries on head. He was brought to Mahavir Hospital in Surat for further treatment and was declared brain-dead on September 10 by doctors.His wife Anandiben, 52; son Nitin, 25; daughters Darshana, 27, and Anjana, 23; expressed the desire to donate their kin’s organs. A team of doctors from the Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Centre from Ahmedabad harvested Jayanti Vasava’s kidneys.One kidney was transplanted to the body of Jagdish Kanti Patel, 53, a resident of Ahmedabad, and the other was received by Kailash R Prajapati, 51, a native of Patan.
