Surat: A 35-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly strangling her husband at their residence in Sonal Park Society of Amba Talawdi locality on Wednesday.Police said accused Shilpa Pansuirya first smashed her husband Ashok’s (38) head on the wall and later strangled him following quarrel over latter’s demand for liquor money.According to the police, the couple had developed differences after Ashok, who was rendered jobless four months ago, got addicted to liquor and frequently demand money from Shipla. They have three children who have now become dependent on relatives.On Tuesday night, the couple had a fight over liquor money. However, the family members later went to sleep. In morning when Ashok did not wake up Shilpa informed her relatives who took Ashok to SMIMER thinking that he is unconscious. At the hospital, doctors declared him dead on arrival. The doctors also informed the police as Ashok had injury marks on his body.Police said medical report of the deceased revealed that Ashok’s head was first banged on some wall and later strangled as there were marks around his neck.Ashok was a diamond polisher. But after he lost his job, Shilpa had started doing job work on saris.
