Offences against some for trying to cause riot

Surat: Two offences were registered at the crime branch for trying to create riot through social media on Saturday. “The two men had intentionally shot the video so as to cause riot in the city. The accused shared details about the fracas at Mumbai Vad area and asked the police to take strict action against accused and also used abusive language. They will be arrested definitely,” a police officer said.The accused in both the cases have been booked under Indian Penal Code Section 153 (Wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot). Police had booked 15 people who were involved in this incident.The other offence relates to two men in a hate video that has gone viral on social media.

Surat: Two offences were registered at the crime branch for trying to create riot through social media on Saturday. However, police are yet to arrest the accused. Police booked Vikas Aahir and some unidentified persons for allegedly sharing message on their Facebook wall. The accused shared details about the fracas at Mumbai Vad area and asked the police to take strict action against accused and also used abusive language. The message, which was shared under the name of a group belonging to majority community, proclaimed that their protest would continue until those involved in Mumbai Vad incident were punished.“We are yet to make any arrest in the case. Our investigation is on to identify the person who had written this message. Police are keeping an eye on messages being shared on social media,” said a police officer at the crime branch.Some men belonging to minority community had allegedly entered the pandal of Lord Ganesha at Mumbai Vad locality falling under the limits of Salabatpura police station and clashed with the organizers on Friday last. A small idol of Lord Ganesha in the pandal was damaged in the scuffle between the two groups.
