Surat: A government officer committed suicide in Silvassa in Dadra and Nagar Haveli (DNH) on Sunday. The deceased was facing a police investigation with regard to a file that had gone missing from his office. An executive engineer had committed suicide in Silvassa nine months ago.Jignesh Patel, 45, project manager in District Industries Centre of DNH, was found hanging in his residence at Tokarkhada under the limits of Silvassa police station. He was first spotted by his wife when she returned from temple.“The deceased was found hanging at around 6pm. The exact time of suicide is yet to be ascertained. Postmortem report will reveal more details about the death,” a police officer said.He was facing a police inquiry about a file that had gone missing from his office a few months ago. The complaint was registered about this at Silvassa police station two months ago.Police are yet to examine the eight page suicide note written by Jignesh Patel. “The suicide note has been sealed by a magistrate who is conducting inquiry in the case. In sensitive cases, magistrates conduct inquiry,” police said.Police sources said the deceased has named some officers from his department and held them responsible for his suicide.“We have just initiated investigation and only after its completion, can share details,” said Sharad Darade, superintendent of police, DNH.On January 17, 2018, S S Bhoya, executive engineer of Public Works Department, ended life by hanging self in his residence. Bhoya had mentioned in his suicide note that he was tired of life. Bhoya was popular among various government departments and local citizens.
